Major techniques used in these studies include network- and cellular-level calcium imaging with GCaMPs, selective cell stimulation using chemogenetics, cell labeling assays, fluorescent reporter systems, RNA sequencing, and physiological assays of function.
The successful candidates will be expected to conduct experiments aimed at understanding the neurohumoral regulation of perivascular adipose tissue, collect and analyze data from these experiments, and report the results of these studies at scientific meetings and in publications (70% effort). The successful candidate will also be expected to oversee the daily operations of a microscopy core facility which houses a Zeiss LSM 880 NL microscope with Airyscan detectors, train users in the use of this microscope; train and assist with image analysis; and help facilitate collaborative research effort using this system (30% effort).
