Position title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Enteric Glial Biology
Organization: Michigan State University
Location: East Lansing, Michigan
Summary of position:
The Gulbransen laboratory in the Department of Physiology at Michigan State University (https://sites.google.com/msu.edu/gulbransenlab/home) studies how intercellular signaling between enteric glia and neurons controls gut functions in health and how changes in glia-neuron interactions contribute to long-term changes in gastrointestinal function in disease. Toward this end, the Gulbransen Lab uses a range of techniques that include cellular and network level imaging, chemogenetics, cellular genomics, organ physiology, and in vivo disease models. Dr. Gulbransen is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to advance work focused on understanding how enteric glia modulate enteric neurocircuits in health and disease. The Gulbransen team aims to create a supportive, lively learning experience that will advance science and build careers. The successful individual will report directly to Dr. Gulbransen and will be expected to advance the science, publish high quality results, and to eventually develop their own research niche. This individual will also have the opportunity to participate in career building activities and learn new research skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates must have a PhD degree and the following attributes:
-
- A proven track record of research experience in neuroscience and/or intercellular communication
- A publication record that includes primary research articles and at least one lead-author publication
